Antoine Waked

Antoine Waked, born in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec, is a big, physical winger currently playing for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL. Drafted in the 4th round, 67th overall by the Huskies in 2013, Waked, known mainly for his physical play and tenacity, has developed into the offensive player many had hoped he’d become over the past couple of years.

After a tough start to his junior career, posting 8 points in 48 games, Waked took a solid leap in sophomore season, putting up 15 goals and 31 points in 61 games, while adding 68 PIMs.

Antoine continued to blossom as an offensive force for the Huskies, scoring 11 goals and 38 points in 48 games. Waked then had a breakout season in 2016-17, scoring 39 goals and 80 points in 67 games, finishing 9th in the QMJHL in goals, and 12th in points. Waked and the Huskies finished 2nd in the QMJHL regular season standings, but Waked had to shorten his playoffs due to an injury.  Through hard work and dedication, this milestone season landed the free agent a three year NHL entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Standing at 6’01, and nearly 200lbs, Waked’s physical style and competitiveness makes him an extremely important asset with a very bright future. That, accompanied by his regained confidence with the puck and offensive production makes Antoine another one of CEM’s most intriguing prospects. Waked is expected to play the 2017-18 season in the AHL for the Laval Rockets and eventually work his way up to the NHL.
