Simon Benoit


Born in Laval, Quebec is a defenseman currently playing for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL.

In 2013-14, Benoît’s road to the QMJHL began with a stint in the Midget Espoir league in Quebec. Benoît posted two goals and two assists in 20 games.

Only a year later, Benoît found himself playing Midget AAA in his hometown of Laval. In the 2014-2015 season, Benoît managed to rack up three goals and 14 points in 42 games.

In 2015, Shawinigan drafted Simon with the 129th overall pick of the QMJHL entry draft. Simon played 55 games holding down the blue line for the Cataractes, scoring 3 points and played in 2 playoff games. Throughout the 2015-16 season, Simon learned a lot and bounced back in the 2016-17 season scoring 12 points in 64 games. At 6’3’’ 180lbs, Simon is one of the toughest defensemen in the league.

Simon is gearing up for the 2017 NHL Entry draft and is excited to have the chance to possibly become a part of an NHL organization.
