UNDER THE RADAR. Boko Imama Makes the Most of his Invitation to Habs’ Rookie Camp
It’s no secret that Boko Imama is a special type of player who has the character that so many NHL teams crave. Well, at least it’s no secret to Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin and his coaching staff.
After sitting through all seven rounds of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia, only to remain undrafted, 17-year-old Boko Imama’s disappointment quickly vanished when he was approached by the Canadiens’ management and was given an invitation to participate at the development camp of his hometown team.
Needless to say, Boko made quite the impression on Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin and Head Coach Michel Therrien. The storied NHL franchise extended Boko’s stay with the Club by inviting him to their Rookie Camp as an undrafted free agent, along with his Baie-Comeau Drakkar teammate Jeremy Gregoire.
As expected, Boko never made the Habs official training camp roster but he returns to Baie-Comeau as motivated and determined as ever. The young power forward feels validated for all the hard work he has done, but now he has a newfound sense of motivation after turning lots of heads in his direction at the Montreal Candiens Rookie Camp.
